The Sims is a video game created to
portray the real world and as many aspects of life as possible. The image above is from Sims 3; there have
been 4 different versions of the video game created, and with each new version
comes improvements, updates, and additional options to make the game more
realistic in the digital world. The
program allows you to create your own character(s)—referred to as sims—and
develop its own lifestyle through choosing specific actions, having its own
responsibilities, taking care of the sim’s health (i.e. nutrition, fitness,
hygiene, energy/sleep, etc.). As a user,
you are basically taking any and all actions necessary to build a healthy life
for your character, just as you would yourself.
As you play the game, you learn how to develop relationships with other
people. You can create relationships
with friends, co-workers, love interests, and even make some enemies. You create these relationships by performing
actions such as making jokes, giving complements, throwing/hosting parties, and
attending social events.
This video game can have a positive
a positive impact on its users because it teaches you real life skills and even
though its through a digital world, it gives you an idea of what it takes to
earn a living for yourself, learn about time management, how to keep in shape,
and deal with most aspects of life.
Obviously nothing can truly compare to the struggles of real life, but
the goal of Sims is to `portray realistic real-world ideals and situations.
